Getting rid of fleas in your house can be very frustrating and can also cost you a lot of money. Although it doesn’t always have to there are many different ways you can get rid of fleas in your home without it costing you a lot of money. If you have a pet that spends most of its time out doors then it is most likely to have gotten fleas then a pet who spends its time in doors. If your pet spends most of its time outdoors, the interior of the home should be treated. Before treatment, you should: Remove all toys, clothing, from under beds, and in closets. And also anywhere else you plan on treating your home for fleas. Remove pet food and water dishes, cover fish tanks, and keep kids and pets outdoors or at another location during this time.
After you have done all this then the next step is to vacuum, vacuuming removes a lot of the fleas and their eggs from your carpet. Vacuum very well, especially in places where pets rest or sleep. Also vacuum along edges of rooms and beneath furniture, cushions, beds, and throw rugs and also any other place that you feel there might be fleas. After vacuuming, seal the vacuum bag in a garbage bag and discard it in an outdoor trash container. Do not leave it any where in the house for this will defeat the purpose of getting rid of fleas in your home. Once you have done the vacuuming then you can apply pesticide to the areas you have just cleaned to insure that you get rid of any remaining fleas that you may have missed when vacuuming. All people especially children and pets should stay off the carpet why they pesticide is drying.
They should also remain out of the house only the person applying the pesticide should be the only one in the house hold. The pesticide may take several hours to dry depending on the type of carpet you have. Opening windows and running your fan or air conditioner during the treatment will help it dry quicker and help minimize the odor. If there is anyone in your house hold who uses oxygen or has any other respiratory condition you might want to talk to your doctor about using pesticides around then more it be best to have them stay out of the house for a day or to whiling doing the treatment but it be best to ask a doctor first before starting any kind of pesticides.
